my review

This is part of the spin-off series from Cavendish Club, the next generation of women to operate the elite sex club.

Becca is a former film archivist who is now part owner of the Cavendish Club. She’s also a true-crime buff who, unlike her co-owners, can see that the problems that have plagued them are not over. To her a mystery half solved leaves too many loose ends, so she refuses to give up the search for answers. And she’s not alone in believing there is still more to come. Enter Porter, an ex-CIA operative with a truckload of baggage but the skills to help her figure it all out.

I love their dynamic. Becca isn’t intimidated by his dark, brooding, often abrupt nature, and she has no problem calling him out on his behavior. Porter has his own struggles, and Becca leaves him unsettled. The two of them are such great foils, the push and pull between them as the story progresses, and it makes for a really interesting story. They work so well together, and that carries over into the inevitable romance, even through a lot of dark moments and obstacles.

What I love most about this series and the original is that they are incredibly sex positive. Both series center around female friends who go into business together, who are strong in their own ways. And they’ve built a club where sex positivity is at the foundation of everything they do. That’s a refreshing thing to see.
