the blurb
When he’s sent to Arizona to recruit more help for the Alliance, Logan doesn’t expect to find himself in the middle of a murder scene… or to become the number one suspect.
Determined to escape and find the true killer, he takes Elena hostage to break free of the hunter compound.Elena ran away from the hunter way of life eight years ago, but that doesn’t mean her hatred toward vampires lessened over time. When she finds herself at the mercy of one, she must decide if he truly is an enemy or if she can trust him.
But just as things come together, and Elena and Logan are learning to trust one another, a bigger threat emerges.
As hunters become the enemy, and everything they know unravels, can they stop what is coming… or is it already too late?
my review
This book was so action-packed and full of suspense, and I loved that!
I don’t always love the enemies-to-lovers trope, but it was so well done in this book. Elena and Logan were the epitome of that couple in books and movies, even in real life, that you just know should be together. But there are so many things in the way of that happening. Logan was once a hunter, now a vampire. Elena was raised to be a hunter, to hate all things vampire. For her, that made Logan a conundrum… how could a former hunter live with himself as a vampire, the thing they’d been raised to hate? Watching her come to realize that the hate isn’t really necessary was a beautiful thing to read.
There was a bit of a “mad scientist” vibe in this book, which led to the entire conflict of the novel. It lent a lovely air of suspense to the story, adding to the action. It was so twisty and turny, and that kept me turning the pages. The foreboding built throughout the book, and didn’t end at the conclusion!
