the blurb

Freshly sprung from witch jail, Winnie Foster just has to fulfill the conditions of her parole and she's home free.

Too bad that parole takes place in Paris. (Texas!) Where she'll work at a school for the magically inclined. (KIDS!) And be forced to endure the ex, who's one of the very reasons she landed in the pokey to begin with. (GAH!!)

Bratty tots, sexy ex, timed showers, creepy dolls, magic restrictions, and a GPS with an attitude, all wrapped in a Texas town hotter than the surface of the sun? Oh yeah. No way this could go wrong!

***Author note: Dear readers, this book originally appeared in the Twelve Shades of Midnight anthology collection released October 2014***

my review

This was a great take on the classic redemption arc, but with imperfect characters, humor, and a great plot, all set in a small town I’d love to live in!

In-the-beginning Winnie reminded me a lot of Paris Hilton in the A Simple Life years. Not necessarily spoiled, but self-absobed. And that is what lands her in magic prison, her abuse of her powers. Enter none other than Baba Yaga, recast as a with with a fondness for all things the 1980s. But Winnie takes her parole in good humor. She was determined, took responsibility for her bad behavior, and didn’t try to be anything other than who she was, even when in less than ideal situations. She was in a position that could have made her bitter; instead, she turned it into lemonade, which I loved.

All in all, a great story and a fairly quick read!
