I am notoriously bad at keeping up with the books I get from book boxes. So I’m hosting this challenge as a way to hold myself accountable. The goal is to read books hauled from book boxes, of any kind.

• The challenge begins 1 January 2026 and ends on 31 December 2026.
• You can join in any time,
• No participation levels, only points, explained below. You can set a personal goal, like how many per month or per year.
• Any and all genres, fiction or nonfiction, are free game.

the points

read a book…

• within 1 month of receipt = 5 points
• within 2 months of receipt = 4 points
• within 6 months of receipt = 3 points
• within 12 months of receipt = 2 point
• after 12 months of receipt = 1 point

additional points…

• the book has at least 400 pages = 1 point
• the book has at least 600 pages = 2 points
• the book has over 600 pages = 3 points.
