the blurb
Welcome back to Elmwood Academy. The conclusion begins. And the drama continues.
The Elite of Elmwood Academy have twisted up my world, but they are mine now.
My family.
My vengeance.
My only way out of hell.
Four guys who have become more than just a pain in my ass. And they all want the same thing as me.
Revenge.
But is there room for one more in our little pact? Or has the girl before me come back at the very worst time, right smack in a war of power and wealth?
my review
This story/series has some great suspense elements, lots of twists and turns. There are some intense moment of family turmoil that are deep and emotional.
But it was the relationship between Brock and Josie that put a damper on what was otherwise a great storyline. One of the great things about reading is that everyone reads a book differently, coloring it with the paintbrush of their own experiences. So, to be honest, I usually can’t stand the alpha male trope. And the control that Brock felt was his due over Josie, and her easy acquiescence, to it drove me insane. It felt unhealthy, their relationship almost bordering on obsessive. It was claustrophobic. Even aside from the alpha male thing, there was just so much emphasis put on their physical relationship. They could barely exist within a few feet of each other without getting busy. Sex and control… not my thing.
All the props for the suspense, and that part of that storyline. Less so for the unhealthy relationship.
