“Persephone,” he whispered, pulling her tightly against him. “Did you think I would not come for you?”
Her tears had frozen into ice on her cheeks. “I thought you had forgotten me.”
“Never,” he said quietly. “I could never forget you. I told you, remember, I’ll come for you when the first snow falls on the mountains.” Storm clouds shattered the moonlight, casting strange shadows across his face, half-light, half-dark. Her angel and her devil. Diamonds fell from the strands as he brushed his hands through her hair, tumbling to the Earth far below. “You are etched so deeply in my soul, Persephone, that the very fibers of it are weaved from you. I will always come for you. I will always wait. Whatever you need, I will be for you.” His lips traced her ear, and Persephone shivered.
“Hades,” she breathed.
