“I’m not your minion, Rosalie.” Ren’s tone turned dead cold.
“What are you then?” She jutted her chin at him, her spine straight.
“Your protector,” he growled.
“I don’t need a protector.” She desperately wanted to tell him about Charlie’s last threat to her. That the combat was on.
But raw determination took over her nerves. She was soon to become the Domaine-Lassalle alpha. She could no longer show weakness. Not to Simon, not her father, or to her aunt Camille.
And certainty not to Ren.
It suddenly occurred to her that she was on her own here.
