the blurb
Return to Elmwood Academy.
My douchebag of a stepbrother is blackmailing me. Carter thinks he can use me to steal something from the Elite, something he is desperate to bury.
Reckless.
Frantic.
Violent.
I didn’t ask for this life, and yet I’m caught in the middle of a dangerous game. And the stakes are deadlier. The Elite, four damaged, gorgeous, arrogant guys, think they own me now. But I have my own family drama. Turns out, my entire identity is a lie.
I don’t know who I am anymore.
my review
I love Josie as a main character in this story. She’s strong and fiercely loyal to those she cares about and equally as fierce about standing up for what’s right. She grew during this novel, forced to by ever changing circumstances that have left her reeling. The other characters are great as well, very diverse in who they are as people. Their dynamics with each other are intense, but you can feel the love and support between them.
I don’t usually like bully romances, or those heavy on the alpha male. It always comes off feeling gratuitous, over the top. But somehow this was different, and I think it was because of the depth of the characters and the emotion of the story. That was refreshing!
